This was a rainy day but I had intended to paint every day at the Publisher's Invitational in the Adirondack Mountains.
This was a pretty little spot which I'm sure most people do not see because the road has a slight curve away from it. I loved the curve of the birch tree over the pond & its curved reflection below it. The colors were very subtle & muted in the heavy rain.
There was a little strip of land between the guardrail & pond where I started to set up my easel. As I was setting up my easel with an umbrella over it ( rain/water repels oil & I was using oil paint) a car full of men came down around the corner & slammed on their brakes
(must have just seen me) , they stuck their heads out of the windows to see what I was painting. Unfortunately, I was just putting a blank canvas on my easel & I did not have a mark on it. I think I was more disappointed than they were as they looked at my blank canvas. I didn't even have my paint out yet. I did not see them before I finished but I did have other people stop by & visit.
