"Crowley's from Rockbottom"   Crowley's was a local plant that bought the raw milk from the local farmers & produced dairy products like milk, cream, sour cream, cottage cheese & ice cream. They went out of business many years ago. Their name is in the brickwork on the smokestack. It has an underground tunnel that travels under the road to their offices that were across the street. This way they could go back & forth between the offices & the plant without waiting for the traffic or worry about the weather. Crowley's overlooks the dam & people will park in their parking lot when they go fishing. Some of the employees would go fishing after work.

Rockbottom Dam is a very popular fishing spot  since it was built in 1828 to power a grist mill. In the 60's & 70's swimming was banned due to whirlpools that took many swimmers. The river has not been that deep for decades but many people fish both sides of the river& enjoy the shade from the trees. There is a nice variety of waterfowl that dot the river.
